The Noise Is Loud, But God Is Louder

Spread the love

⭐Before we dive into today’s reflection, I want to welcome you into a moment of quiet—just you, your breath, and a reminder that God’s voice still rises above the noise.

The Start of a New Series –

Part 1

A journey toward stillness, clarity, and connection—not just with God, but with myself and the life I’m building every day.

I’m exploring the following:

  • prayer
  • fasting
  • mindfulness
  • healing
  • marriage
  • spiritual growth
  • and the grounding power of love

Because the truth is simple:

The noise may be loud… but God is louder.
Because of that, I’m learning to listen.

People don’t always talk about how loud the noise in your head is, and as a result, it can feel impossible to escape. Not just the noise of the world—the traffic, the notifications, the endless responsibilities—but the noise inside my own head. The overthinking. The stress. The “Did I forget something?” The “Why is my body doing THAT today?” The mental clutter shows up uninvited and refuses to leave, which is why it becomes so hard to find any sense of calm.

There was a moment recently when the noise felt especially heavy. I was sitting on the edge of my bed, staring at the floor, feeling like my thoughts were stacked on top of each other with no space to breathe. And right there—in the middle of the swirl—something inside me softened. Not because the noise disappeared, but because God’s whisper slipped in quietly, almost unnoticed:

“Breathe. I’m here. You don’t have to carry this alone.”

That whisper didn’t silence the noise, but it steadied me in it.

Quiet isn’t just silence; it’s the moment my spirit exhales because it finally has room to breathe.
And in that stillness, God meets me.

Perfection isn’t where He meets me, not in performance. Not in the “I’ve got it all figured out” moments.

But in the messy, tired, overwhelmed ones.

The ones where I’m doing my best and hoping my best is enough.

When Life Gets Loud, God Gets Louder

He speaks in the pause between my thoughts.
In the breath I didn’t realize I was holding, His voice settles me.
And when I finally slow down enough to listen, His whisper becomes unmistakable.
A quiet reminder often arrives right when I need it most.

And occasionally, it’s simply a feeling—a grounding, a settling, a softening.

Sometimes His voice comes through the people He placed in my life—especially the one who steadies me when the world tilts.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27

Even Scripture reminds me that God’s voice isn’t distant. It’s present. It’s personal. It’s steady.

How I’m Learning to Quiet the Noise

Here are the practices I’m leaning into as I begin this series:

  • Breathe prayers that slow my racing thoughts
  • Mindfulness moments that help me return to the present
  • Fasting that clears spiritual clutter
  • Healing work that makes space for peace
  • Marriage conversations that bring unity instead of noise
  • Spiritual growth that deepens my awareness of God
  • Love that grounds me when life feels unstable

Quiet isn’t something I find once—it’s something I practice.

A Reflection for You

What noise is filling your mind today? What might God be whispering to you? What would happen if you gave yourself permission to pause?

A Prayer for This Moment

God, meet me in the quiet. Settle my thoughts and steady my heart.

Help me hear Your voice above every noise competing for my attention.

Amen.

It’s comforting to know that psychologists also recognize how mental clutter affects our ability to find calm.➤ Article: Psychology Today explains how mental overwhelm can create internal noise that makes it harder to find clarity and calm.

Over time, I’ve learned that slowing down helps me hear God more clearly.

Looking Ahead

This marks the beginning of a journey toward stillness, clarity, and connection.
Part 2 will explore breath prayer—a simple, powerful way to quiet your mind and reconnect with God’s presence.

His presence reaches me in a way nothing else can.

If you’re looking for a book that helps you quiet the noise, “Breath as Prayer” is a beautiful blend of faith and mindfulness.

There’s also research showing that slowing down and creating space for quiet can support emotional healing. ➤ The Mayo Clinic explains how mindfulness can support emotional healing and reduce stress.
